Philip Ray Shreckengost “beloved husband, father, and grandfather”
SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---Philip Ray “Phil” Shreckengost, 78, of Bells Run Road, Shinglehouse, went to be with the Lord on Tuesday, January 4, 2022, in his home surrounded by his loving family.
Born on Friday, February 12, 1943 in Cuba, N.Y., he was a son of Milford S. and Noi Rhodes Shreckengost. On March 2, 1970 in Richmond, Virginia, he married Donna C. Austin, who survives.
Phil was a graduate of Springville-Griffith Institute High School in Springville, N.Y. and also attended Odessa High School in Odessa, N.Y. He attended the former Mt. Echo Bible Institute in Great Valley, N.Y.
Phil was self-employed for most of his life. He began in cabinet making and kitchen installation before starting his cleaning company, P.D.Q. Cleaning, which he owned and operated for over 30 years. After his retirement, he started a small lawn care service which he loved running in the summer with his grandsons.
Phil was an accomplished musician, although he couldn’t read a sheet of music. He enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. He also believed he was the Buffalo Bills head coach, cheering them on in every game from his recliner. Most of all, Phil enjoyed spending time with his family.
Surviving in addition to his wife are three children, Timothy (Melissa) Shreckengost, Lori (Jason) Putt, and Deann (Jeff) Bonney; seven grandchildren, Morgan (Michael) Cheek, Kaitlyn (Will) Ortiz, Alyshia (Christopher) Gomez, Hannah (Eric) Graham, Sarah Putt, Jaxon (Chantel) Bonney, and Nikolas Bonney; eleven great-grandchildren, Mackenzie, Nevaeh, Savanah, Hailey, Emerson, Easton, Bentley, Renn, Waylon, Maren, and Isaiah Ray; five sisters; a brother; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Phil was predeceased by a son, Joel Mark; a sister, Sarah; and five brothers-in-law.
Family and friends are invited to call from 10am to 11am on Friday, January 7, 2022, at the Country Chapel, 109 Indian Creek Road, Eldred, with funeral services following at 11am in the church with Pastor Bruce Ireland of Country Chapel and Pastor Chad E. Shaffer of Bell Run Union Church, Shinglehouse, officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Country Chapel, 109 Indian Creek Road, Eldred, PA 16731.
Phil’s family has entrusted his care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
