Richard E. Manning      “former Austin, PA resident”

ROCHESTER, NY---Richard E. “Dick” Manning, 69, of Rochester, NY, formerly of Austin, PA, passed away Friday, October 21, 2016, in Strong Memorial Hospital, Rochester, NY, after a short illness.

Born on January 9, 1947 in Cuba, NY, he was a son Earl J. and Kathryn A. Lentz Manning.

Mr. Manning graduated from Austin High School and from the time he was a young boy he was lovingly known as “Goono”.

Mr. Manning proudly served in the US Navy and was employed for many years as an electrician in the Rochester, NY area, lastly working for Alling & Cory Company in Rochester, NY.  He was a member of the Austin United Methodist Church, Austin, PA and enjoyed working on anything electrical or electronic.

Surviving are a brother, Robert J. (Deb) Manning of Syracuse, NY; a sister, Kristy E. Rees of Austin, PA; several nieces and nephews; and his longtime friend and companion, Cindy Andrieu of Rochester, NY. 

In addition to his parents, Dick was preceded in death by a son, Justin Manning.

There will be no public visitation.  A memorial service will be held on a date and place to be announced.  Burial will be in Forest Hill Cemetery, Austin, PA.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Richard’s name may be made to a Humane Society or an SPCA of the donor’s choice.

Richard’s family has entrusted his care to the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
