COUDERSPORT, Pa.---Richard L. “Rich” Muirhead, 71, of Coudersport, passed away on Wednesday, June 29, 2022, in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport.

Born on Saturday, February 3, 1951 in Bellefonte, he was a son of John Robert and Jane McGowan Muirhead. On May 3, 1980 in Snowshoe, he married Carla J. Heller, who survives.

Rich was a graduate of Bald Eagle High School and attended Slippery Rock University. He enlisted in the US Army, serving for 3 years during the Vietnam War.

Rich was first employed in construction, working with his father-in-law and brother-in-law, Carl and Nelson Heller. He then was employed in the housekeeping department for Adelphia Communications in Coudersport, and lastly was employed as a custodian at the Coudersport American Legion.

Rich attended Park United Methodist Church in Coudersport. He was a member of Potter Post 192 American Legion in Coudersport. In his earlier years, he was an avid hunter and fisherman. His greatest love was his family.

Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 42 years; a daughter, Tara J. (Steven Barrett) Muirhead of Blossburg; a son, Robert C. “Rob” (Kaylie) Muirhead of Falls Creek; and four grandchildren, Olivia West, Noah Muirhead, Kallen Curry, and Renly Muirhead.

In addition to his parents, Rich was predeceased by an aunt and an uncle, Betty and Richard Weber.

In keeping with Rich’s wishes there will be no public visitation or funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Rich’s name may be made to the Sweden Valley Manor Patient Activity Fund, 1028 East Second Street, Coudersport, PA 16915.

Rich’s family has entrusted his care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
