Richard M. Wright “beloved father and grandfather”

GENESEE, Pa.---Richard M. Wright, 86, of Genesee, Pennsylvania, died at his home Friday, December 18, 2020, after a lengthy illness.

Born on Thursday, January 11, 1934, in Pike Township, Potter County, Pennsylvania, he was the son of Harold L. and Chrystal B. Flynn Wright. On January 4, 1953, he married the love of his life, Mary Belle Scoville.

Richard was a veteran of the United States Army and served as a corporal in Korea from 1953 to 1955. Richard was the recipient of the Korean Service Medal, The United Nations Service Medal and The National Defense Medal. Richard was a member of the American Legion Post 963 in Ulysses.

Richard was a machinist at Dresser-Rand in Wellsville, NY, where he retired after 40 years of service. He was a member of the International Association of Machinists Local 1580.

Richard enjoyed farming and had a great aptitude at mechanical repair. He enjoyed hunting with his sons and family in his early years and later loved watching the deer at his homestead. He was an avid Buffalo Bills and NY Yankee fan. Most of all he loved doing things with his family especially picnics and activities with his great grandchildren, Conner and Caine.

Richard was predeceased by his wife Mary, son David, great-granddaughter Miranda, and several brothers and sisters.

He is survived by three sons, Richard M. (Sandy) Wright of Wellsville, N.Y., Kevin P. (Brenda) Wright of Genesee, Pa., and Robert A. Wright of Genesee, Pa.; eight grandchildren Todd Wright, Stephanie (Malcolm) Wright, Jason (Gerri) Wright, Lance (Gail) Wright, Luke (Kari) Wright, Cassie (Duane) Miller, James Comstock, and Holly Comstock; several great-grandchildren, Emily, Sarah, Daniel, Nick, Baylee, Molly, Conner and Caine; four great-great-grandchildren, Benton, Lucah, Hallie, and Neil; a brother, Charles Wright; a sister, Claralea Naylor; and several nieces and nephews.

Family and friends are invited to attend a celebration of life from noon to 3pm on Saturday, July 10, 2021, at the Ulysses Senior Center, Main Street, Ulysses.

Although we can no longer see him with our eyes, he will live in our hearts forever.

In lieu of flowers memorials may be sent to the Genesee Ambulance Corps, 405 Main Street, Genesee, PA 16923 or Ulysses Cemetery Association, PO Box 153, Ulysses, PA 16948.

Richard’s family has entrusted his care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
