Robert E. Carlson âbeloved husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfatherâ
SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Robert E. âBobâ Carlson, 81, of Shinglehouse, formerly of Anita, passed away in his home surrounded by his loving family on Thursday, July 14, 2016, after a short illness.
Born on June 29, 1935 in Punxsutawney, he was a son of Gilbert E. and Catherine M. Carlson. On March 28, 1953 in DuBois, he married Charlotte C. Bailey, who survives.
In his younger years, Bob was employed by Bethlehem Steel in Buffalo, NY and later was employed as a heavy equipment operator. For many years, he and his son Ron, owned and operated Carlsonâs Cleaning Service in Punxsutawney.
Bob was an avid fisherman, hunter and member of the Tri-County Coon Hunters Association in Punxsutawney. He was a gifted woodworker, having made many items for his family and friends.
Surviving besides his wife are a daughter, Deborah L. âDebâ Bryant of Shinglehouse; two sons, Ronald E. âRonâ (Rose) Carlson and Jeffrey R. âJeffâ (Sharon) Carlson, both of Anita; six grandchildren; seven great-grandchildren; a brother, Mark (Kim) Carlson of Punxsutawney; four sisters, Beverly (Richard âWhiteyâ) Hudson of DuBois, Loreen âReenieâ Good of Punxsutawney, Cathy (Ken) Cahill of Waterbury, CT, and Carla (Larry) Lunger of Rossiter; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by a brother, Larry Carlson; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Charles and Evelyn Bailey; and a son-in-law, Carl âAbeâ Bryant.
At Bobâs request there will be no public visitation. A celebration of his life will be held privately by his family.

Bobâs family has entrusted his care to the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
