Robert E. Stewart âbeloved father and grandfatherâ
SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Robert E. âBobâ Stewart, 98, of Shinglehouse, passed away on Thursday, December 24, 2015, in Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, after a short illness.
Born July 23, 1917 in Zelienople, he was a son of Harry and Ethel Smith Stewart. On December 25, 1937 in Sandusky, Ohio, he married Lula E. Bradt, who passed away on October 9, 1984.
Bob graduated from Zelienople High School and had also attended the Armstrong Flooring School. He had worked on his family farm, for the Curtiss-Wright Airplane Factory in Pennsylvania, for a ball bearing factory in Ohio, and for carpet stores in Houston, TX, Lexington, KY, and Miami Beach, FL. He retired from Jones and Laughlin Steel Mill in Aliquippa where he was employed as an inventory clerk.
Bob was a quiet, Christian man who liked to help others.
Surviving are two daughters, Sharon J. (Gerald) Kellogg of Shinglehouse and Colleen G. (James) Winterhalter of Butler; five grandchildren, Robin (Rob) Taylor of Butler, Paul Winterhalter of Concord, NC, Leah (Jeremy) Stuck of Belmont, NY, Joshua (Jackie) Kellogg of Gibsonia, and Dan (Robin Baker) Kellogg of Shinglehouse; thirteen great-grandchildren; a brother, Donald Stewart of Harmony; and many nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents and wife, Bob was predeceased by a grandson, Laurie Gene Kellogg who died on March 31, 2015; a great-grandson, Blake Hendricks; five sisters, Dorothy Harter, Harriett Young, Sara Such, Leah Neibar, and Edna Kelly; and a brother, Arthur Stewart.
There will be no public visitation. Burial will be next to his wife in the East Sharon Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
Bobâs family has entrusted his care to the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA.
