Robert E. Stone “beloved husband, father, and grandfather”
CLARA, PA---Robert E. “Bob” Stone, 83, of Clara, passed away on Thursday, March 16, 2017, in Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.
Born August 6, 1933 in Genesee, he was a son of Nolla and Hazel Dryer Stone. On April 26, 1953 in the Genesee United Methodist Church, he married Constance E. “Connie” Pierce, who survives.
Bob attended school in Genesee and graduated from high school in Clifton Springs. He honorably served his country in the U.S. Air Force for 20 years, retiring as a master sergeant. He later was employed as plant manager at Galeton Production in Galeton and then as plant manager at Rite-Way Company in Galeton.
Bob was member of the Shinglehouse United Methodist Church where he served as a Sunday school teacher and was the chairman of church council. His greatest love was his family.
Surviving besides his wife are three children, Gary A. (Linda) Stone of Galeton, Patti A. Stone of Clara, and James E. (Laurie) Stone of Milton; five grandchildren, Stephanie L. Schott, Shane A. Stone, Joshua J. Stone, Lacey C. Stone, and Matthew R. Stone; four great-grandchildren, Mikayla Schott, Makenna Schott, Caydon Stone, and Kylee Stone; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bob was predeceased by five brothers, Archie, Paul, Louis, Carl, and an infant brother; and two sisters, Jane and Iona.
In keeping with Bob’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Private funeral services will be held in the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse with the Rev. Howard R. Burnham, pastor emeritus of Hebron Union Church, officiating. Burial will be in Rathbone Cemetery, Coneville.
Members of the Potter County Honor Guard will accord military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
