Roy A. Nickerson “beloved husband, son, father, grandfather, and brother; and friend to all”
COUDERSPORT, Pa.---Roy A. Nickerson, 71, of Coudersport, passed away in his home with his loving family by his side, on Sunday, February 19, 2023, after a long illness.
Born on Monday, July 16, 1951 in Wellsville, N.Y., he was a son of Alfred A. and Martha Greenman Nickerson. On August 14, 1971 in Scio, N.Y., He married Ann M. Gordon, who predeceased him. On June 1, 2013 in Rixford, N.Y., he married Faith M. Crowner, who survives.
Roy was a graduate of Wellsville (N.Y.) High School. He was employed by the former Reach All Tree Service in Wellsville. For approximately 10 years, Roy was employed by Bull Rogers Well Drilling Company in Perryton, Texas. He was also employed by Summit Insulation in Rochester, N.Y. where he worked as an asbestos abatement specialist. After being involved in a car accident, he was a supervisor for log cabin construction.
He enjoyed fishing, hunting, and prospecting for gold in Georgia. He also enjoyed restoring vintage cars and gardening. Roy’s greatest love was his family, especially his grandchildren.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife; his mother, Martha Feick of Port Allegany; three children, Tina (Mike) Main of Port Allegany, Tressa (Shawn) Ahearn of Coudersport, and Roy “Bud” (Chrissy) Nickerson, Jr. of Port Allegany; a stepson, Roy “Scooter” Crowner of Coudersport; a stepdaughter, Robin Baez of New Hartford, N.Y.; many grandchildren and many great-grandchildren; a brother, Alfred (Margaret) Nickerson of Dansville, N.Y.; four sisters, Dawn (Rick) Tompkins of Duke Center, LuAnn (Don) Hallock of Cuba, N.Y., Charlotte (Dan) Green of Belmont, N.Y., and Brenda Wade of Cuba, N.Y.; and several aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.
In addition to his father and first wife, Roy was predeceased by a great-grandson, Roman Harmon; and a brother, William Nickerson.
In keeping with Roy’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Roy entrusted his care and cremation arrangements to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
