Russell V. Lampman âlifelong Ulysses residentâ
ULYSSES, PA---Russell V. Lampman, 79, a lifelong resident of Ulysses, passed away Friday, May 15, 2015 in Robert Packer Hospital, Sayre, PA, after a long illness.
Born March 13, 1936 on the family farm in Ulysses, he was a son of Floyd and Ina Stone Lampman.
Russell was a graduate of Ulysses High School. After high school he was employed by the Floyd Long Farm in Coudersport.
He was a self-employed farmer on the family farm for many years. He was also employed on the Gene Erway Farm in Raymond, Silsbyâs Farm in Ellisburg and Jack Thomas Farms in Ulysses. He was also employed by Ed & Alâs Farm Repair in Harrison Valley and at Elmer Merrick Farm Repair Shop in Mills.
Russell was a member of Galeton Moose Club and was a social member of the Carl E. Hyde American Legion Post 963 in Ulysses. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, mowing his lawn, gardening, and snowmobiling.
Surviving are four children, Greg D. Lampman of Ulysses, Rusty A. (Jewel) Lampman of Shongo, NY, Joan M. Storm of Mt. Joy, and Denise G. Zdansky of Norman, Oklahoma; several grandchildren and great-grandchildren; his companion of many years, Laverna Smyers of Ulysses; three brothers, Dean E. (Arlene) Lampman of Ulysses, Wilford L. (Louise) Lampman of Jerome, Idaho, and Lewis W. (Bonnie) Lampman of Ulysses; a sister, Mary Louise Willey of Malott, Washington; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Russell was predeceased by an infant son, Todd Eric Lampman; four brothers, Richard L. Lampman, Jay-B Lampman, Charles âEdâ Lampman, and Floyd H. âWimpyâ Lampman; and an infant sister, Iva Marie Lampman.
In keeping with Russellâs wishes there will be no public visitation or funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to a charity of the donorâs choice.
Russellâs family has entrusted his care to the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse, PA.
