Russell D. Stevens âbeloved father and grandfatherâ
AUSTIN, PA---Russell D. Stevens, 76, of Austin, passed away at home with his loving family by his side on Tuesday, August 9, 2016, under the care of the Potter County Hospice, after a long illness.
Born on October 13, 1939 in Coudersport, he was a son of Keith D. and Bridget Deresock Stevens. He grew up in Olean, NY, Portville, NY, Austin, and most of his teen years were spent in Coudersport. He had been a resident of Austin since 1963.
Russell was a U.S. Army veteran from 1959 to 1962 having served as a heavy equipment operator in Aberg, Germany. He was employed by St. Gobain in Port Allegany for 32 years in various positions, retiring in 2004.
He loved to get in his vehicle to just go on a âroad tripâ. He loved his beagles, Charlie and Susie.
Surviving are three children, Veronica A. âNickiâ Hauber of St. Marys, Patrick D. Stevens of Austin, and Dana J. Stevens of Coudersport; six grandchildren; and five great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Russell was predeceased by a daughter, Debbie Sue Stevens.
In keeping with Russellâs wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral services.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Potter County Hospice, 269 Route 6 West, Coudersport, PA 16915.
Russellâs family has entrusted his care to the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
