Steven William “Bill” Brewer      “beloved son, father, and brother”

AUSTIN, Pa.---Steven William “Bill” Brewer, 45, a lifelong resident of Austin, passed away unexpectedly on Thursday, December 22, 2016 in Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport.

Born on July 28, 1971 in Coudersport, he was a son of Steven W. and Vicki L. Meacham Brewer.

Bill was a graduate of Austin Area High School.  He was first employed at GKN Sinter Metals in Emporium, then at the Cameron County Country Club in Emporium, and by Pesces Fabrication in St. Mary’s.  At the time of his death, he was employed as a scale master at Lansberry Trucking of Woodland at Turtlepoint.

He was a social member of the Austin VFW and the Potter County Anglers Club in Austin. Bill had a zest for life that could not be matched.  He enjoyed the outdoors and all that entailed, particularly camping and riding motorcycle.  Although his exterior would intimidate most, those who knew him, knew the gentle giant he was.  He was a brutally honest friend that was there in a pinch.  He loved his family and being a great dad, son, brother, nephew, grandson, uncle, cousin and most importantly “friend”.  He will be greatly missed, as he was a friend to many and a brother to all, and was truly “one of a kind”.

Surviving besides his mother of Austin are two sons, Dylan G. (Harmony Sasser) Baxter of Coudersport and Donivan Brewer of DuBois; a sister, Tracy Jo (Travis) Metcalf of Austin; a stepbrother, Gregory (Jessica) Rees of Emporium; his maternal grandmother, Mary Meacham Haskins of Austin; his paternal grandfather, Robert Brewer of Shinglehouse; and several aunts, uncles, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In addition to his father, Bill was predeceased by a son, Nicholas Brewer; his maternal grandfather, Ronald L. Meacham; and his paternal grandmother, Laura Brewer.

Family and friends may call from 1 to 2pm on Saturday, December 31, 2016 at the Austin United Methodist Church, Turner Street, Austin, where a memorial service will follow at 2pm with the Rev. Donald Caskey, of Coudersport, officiating. 

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Potter County Anglers Club, 4472 SR 872, Coudersport, PA 16915.

Bill’s family has entrusted his care to the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
