Steven P. Hathaway “beloved companion, father, grandfather, brother, uncle, and friend”
SHINGLEHOUSE, PA—Steven P. “Steve” Hathaway, 75, a longtime resident of Shinglehouse, passed away in his home with his loving family by his side on Thursday, October 17, 2024, after a courageous battle with cancer.
Born on Friday, January 7, 1949 in Olean, NY, he was a son of Alfred L. and Theo Schoonover Hathaway. He was the beloved companion of Linda Clayton.
Steve was employed as a truck driver for his working career having been employed by Portville Concrete and Wayne Paving until retiring in 2015.
He was a member of the Harley Owner’s Group. He loved to ride his Harley, loved to travel to Montana and Idaho, and also loved to tinker on vehicles. He loved making homemade ice cream and pressing his yearly apple cider. Steven most especially loved spending time with Linda and his family.
Surviving are his loving companion of 27 years, Linda; ten children, Sonya (John) Triplett, Vickie (Tony) Card, Paula (David) Plants, Bryan (Kelly) Hathaway, Steve “JR” (Joni) Hathaway, Charleen “Charlie” (Rick) Sherlock, Michele (Kevin) Amberson, Christine (Greg) West, Michele (Kevin) McKay, and Roland “Beaver” (Kim) Johnston; many grandchildren and great-grandchildren; a brother, Allen “Squirt” (Calla) Hathaway; many nieces and nephews; a special ice cream buddy, Maverick Jimerson; and his fur baby, Cloud.
In addition to his parents, Steven was predeceased by his twin brother, Alfred “Dennis” Hathaway; and two sisters, Jacqueline Thompson and Jane Pangburn.
A celebration of Steven’s life will be held on a date and place to be announced.
In lieu of flowers, memorials in Steven’s name may be made to a charity of the donor’s choice.
Steve’s family entrusted his care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
