Susan A. Kerr “beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and sister”

 

COUDERSPORT, Pa.---Susan A. “Sue” Kerr, 64, of Coudersport, passed away on Wednesday, July 6, 2022, in UPMC Cole Place, Coudersport, after a two year battle with cancer.

Born on Monday, August 4, 1957 in Dennville, N.J., she was a daughter of Joseph R. Jr. and Marie C. Stem Kearney. On October 12, 2013 in Coudersport, she married William C. “Bill” Kerr, who survives.

Sue was a graduate of Burlington City High School in Burlington, NJ and later attended Ocean County College in Ocean County, NJ.

In her earlier years, Sue was a waitress. Throughout most of her life, she worked in retail sales. Her last job was as manager of the Dollar General Store in Shinglehouse. Despite her fight with cancer, Sue after surgery and her first round of chemotherapy, returned to work until her health wouldn’t permit. Sue was loved by her customers and she loved them back. Her love and kindness was evident in her everyday life.

Sue enjoyed making beaded bracelets, her flower gardens and houseplants, going to the casino, and a good cup of coffee. Her greatest love was her husband, Bill (and Bill’s greatest love was Sue).

Surviving in addition to her husband are two sons, Wayne Depew of North Pole, Alaska and William Kerr of Chatsworth, NJ; a daughter, Krista (Charles) Casteen of Raleigh, NC; four grandchildren, Garett, Gracie, Makenzie, and Rylan; a sister, Gail (Mark) Verlander of Union, Kentucky; and several nieces, nephews, grandnieces and grandnephews.

In addition to her parents, Sue was predeceased by a brother, Joseph R. Kearney III.

In keeping with Sue’s wishes, there will be no public visitation or funeral services.

In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Christmas House, PO Box 716, Coudersport, PA 16915.

Sue entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
