Suzanne R. Taylor “loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother”
SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---Suzanne R. “Sue” Taylor, 88, of Shinglehouse, passed away surrounded by her loving family at the home of her daughter, on Wednesday, December 22, 2021, after a long illness.
Born on Thursday, March 23, 1933 on Bell Run Road in Shinglehouse, she was a daughter of George R. and Geraldine L. Foote Washburn. On October 10, 1953 in Shinglehouse, she married Victor W. “Vic” Taylor, who passed away on January 5, 2015.
Sue was a graduate of Shinglehouse High School, Class of 1952. After graduation, Sue was employed at the former Olean Tile Plant for a short period of time. She also was employed at the former Mom’s Kitchen in Shinglehouse. While her husband was serving in the US Army, Sue lived in Germany for a year.
For 7 ½ years, Sue, along with her family, owned the former Trapper Vic’s Restaurant in Shinglehouse, her husband having built the building.
Sue was a member of the Bell Run Union Church in Shinglehouse. She was a life member of the former Shinglehouse Volunteer Fireman’s Ladies Auxiliary and was a member of the Oswayo Valley Senior Center in Shinglehouse. Sue enjoyed crafts, making jewelry, and sewing. Her greatest love was her family, especially her grandchildren.
Left to cherish her memory are her six children, Stephen L. (Patricia) Taylor of Salamanca, N.Y., Vicki Sue (Karmon) Wood of Eldred, and Douglas E. (Cheryl) Taylor, Victor W. (Jackie) Taylor, Darialee (Michael) Colton, and Darialyn Nolan, all of Shinglehouse; eighteen grandchildren; twenty-nine great-grandchildren; two sisters, Georgia L. Babcock of Gasport, N.Y. and Sharon L. Baker of Shinglehouse; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents and husband, Sue was predeceased by two sisters, Delores Dillon and Wanda J. Buckert; a granddaughter, Charity Lynne Nolan; and a son-in-law, Rod Nolan.
Family and friends may call from 10am to 12 noon on Monday, December 27, 2021, at the Bell Run Union Church, 904 Taylor Brook Road, Shinglehouse, where funeral services will follow at 12 noon with Pastor Chad E. Shaffer, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Bell Run Union Church, 904 Taylor Brook Road, Shinglehouse, PA 16748 or the Oswayo Valley Senior Center, PO Box 671, Shinglehouse PA 16748.
Sue entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
