Tanya L. Hemphill âbeloved wife, mother, and daughterâ
SHINGLEHOUSE, PA---Tanya L. Hemphill, 43, of Shinglehouse, passed away Tuesday, May 20, 2014 at Cole Memorial Hospital, Coudersport, after a prolonged battle with Muscular Dystrophy.
Born May 26, 1970 in Olean, NY, she was a daughter of James F. and Patricia Ann Ellsworth Ayers. On July 21, 2000 in Swoyersville, she married John W. Hemphill, who survives.
Tanya was a graduate of Oswayo Valley High School, Class of 1988, in Shinglehouse.
She was employed by Pride Mobility LLC in Pittston for several years.
Tanya was a member of the Bell Run Union Church and also attended the First Baptist Church in Shinglehouse. She was an active member of the Shinglehouse Volunteer Fire Department until her illness prevented her from being able to serve the community. She loved to read, play cards, and solve search-a-word puzzles. Her greatest love was her family.
Surviving besides her husband are a son, Aaron J. Hemphill at home; her father of Shinglehouse; two brothers, Spencer A. Ayers of Shinglehouse and Jason W. (Rayna) Ayers of Richburg, NY; her maternal grandmother, Lucile M. Ellsworth of Smethport; and several nieces.
Tanya was preceded in death by her mother.
Friends may call on Friday, May 23, 2014 from 10 a.m. to 12 Noon at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, PA where funeral services will follow at 12 Noon with the Rev. Chad Shaffer, pastor of Bell Run Union Church and the Rev. Russell J. Horning, pastor of the First Baptist Church, Shinglehouse, co-officiating. Burial will be in Sharon Center Cemetery.
