Theo A. Dickerson “lifelong homemaker, beloved wife, mother, and grandmother”

SHINGLEHOUSE, Pa.---Theo A. Dickerson, 91, of Eleven Mile Road, Shinglehouse, passed away on Sunday, August 21, 2022, in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, after a short illness.

Born on Sunday, November 23, 1930 in Eagle, N.Y., she was a daughter of Lewis W. and Lois Cockle Richardson. On February 13, 1949 in Bolivar, N.Y., she married William K. Dickerson, who survives.

Theo was a graduate of Bolivar (N.Y.) High School. She was a devoted wife, mother, and homemaker.

Theo was a member of the former Christian and Missionary Alliance in Shinglehouse and was a member of the former Chrystal Missionary Ladies group. Theo enjoyed camping, plastic canvas, jigsaw puzzles, and family history. Her greatest love was her family and the time spent with them on holidays and family picnics. She always put her family first.

Left to cherish her memory are her beloved husband of 73 years; seven children, Lila Curry of Genesee, Karl (Ronda) Dickerson of Eleven Mile Road, Carolyn (Dave) Gustin of Shinglehouse, Earl (Sharon) Dickerson of Shinglehouse, Don (Judy) Dickerson of Eleven Mile Road, Rod (Kim) Dickerson of Eleven Mile Road, and Bradley (Carla) Dickerson of McConnellsburg; twenty-two grandchildren; thirty-six great-grandchildren; seven great-great-grandchildren; three half siblings, Terry Richardson of Bolivar, N.Y., James (Tina) Richardson of Portville, N.Y., and Sally (Bill) Lowery of Olean, N.Y.; and several nieces and nephews.

In addition to her parents, Theo was predeceased by a daughter, Lois Maryette Duell; four grandchildren, Shellia Duell, Andrew Nelson, Melissa Drake, and Jessica Dickerson; a great-grandson, Dawson Mesler; two sisters, Doris June and Blanche Donor; and a brother, Merle Richardson, Sr.

Family and friends may call from 6pm to 8pm on Thursday and from 11am to 12 noon on Friday, August 26, 2022, at the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, 118 South Union Street, Shinglehouse, where funeral services will follow at 12 noon, with Alan L. Mertsock, pastor of Myrtle Gospel Tabernacle, officiating. Burial will be in Maple Grove Cemetery, Shinglehouse.

Memorials may be made to the LEEK Hunting and Mountain Preserve, 497 PA-244, Oswayo, PA 16915; to the Oswayo Valley Memorial Library, PO Box 188, Shinglehouse, PA 16748; or to a charity of the donor’s choice.

Theo entrusted her care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
