AUSTIN, PA----Walter W. Blythe, 70, of Austin, passed away peacefully in his home on Friday, September 21, 2012.
     Born June 10, 1942 in Austin, he was a son of Walter W. and Julia E. Watkins Blythe, Sr.  
     Mr. Blythe was a graduate of Austin High School, class of 1960, where he was valedictorian.  He was a longtime employee of PennDot, having over 40 years of service.
     He was a social member of VFW Post 7810 in Austin.  In his earlier years, Mr. Blythe loved to hunt.  He enjoyed using his computer and loved to read.  He was a lifelong resident of Austin.
     Surviving are a sister, Julia E. Satterlee of Bradford; several nieces and nephews; and special friends, Paul and Pat Perry of Austin and John and Annette Simms of Austin.
     In addition to his parents, Mr. Blythe was predeceased by a brother, Harold Blythe; and a sister, Sarah Seagram.
     Friends are invited to attend graveside funeral services at 11 a.m. on Monday, September 24, 2012 in Forest Hill Cemetery, Austin.  The Rev. Steven D. Small, pastor of the Southern Potter United Methodist Charge, will officiate.
     In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the American Diabetes Association or to the Austin Volunteer Fire Department Ambulance Fund, PO Box 328, Austin, PA 16720.
