Walter H. Goodwin âbeloved husband and fatherâ
COSTELLO, PA---Walter H. Goodwin, 75, a lifelong resident of the Austin/Costello area, passed away Monday, May 11, 2015 in Sweden Valley Manor, Coudersport, after a lengthy illness.
Born November 24, 1939 in Austin, he was a son of Willie F. and Elizabeth S. Lupold Goodwin. On July 18, 1964 in Austin, he married Donna M. Toombs, who survives.
He attended Austin Joint School. Walter enlisted in the U.S. Army serving in Berlin, Germany during the Berlin Crisis. He attained the rank of Specialist 4.
Walter retired from Pierce Glass in Port Allegany in 1985 due to ill health.
He was a lifetime member of the Austin VFW Post 7810. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, woodworkingâespecially making lawn ornaments, which are located in many of his friendâs and neighborâs yards. Walter loved his pets and his grandpets. His greatest love was his family.
Surviving besides his wife are a son, Walter H. (Colleen) Goodwin III of Coudersport; a daughter, Crystal (Donald Jr.) Snyder of Costello; a special sister-in-law, Margaret Shute of Zolfo Springs, Florida; several nieces and nephews, including Mandi Horton of Costello; and his granddog, Holly.
In addition to his parents, Walter was predeceased by a sister, Mary Glover; a brother, Robert Goodwin; and a niece, Joy Buckingham.
At Walterâs request there will be no visitation or funeral services.
