William C. Gilner
GENESEE, Pa.---William C. “Bill” Gilner, 84, of Genesee, passed away in his home with his loving family by his side on Monday, July 4, 2022, after a long illness.
Born on Wednesday, October 20, 1937 in Lancaster, he was a son of William F. and AnnaMary Andrews Gilner. On August 9, 1958 in East Petersburg, Pa., he married Maureen L. Quinn, who survives.
Bill was a graduate of East Hempfield High School. He enlisted in the US Army, serving from 1954 to 1957, of which two years were spent in Germany. He attained the rank of SP3.
Bill was an over the road truck driver for many years having worked for Alcoa Aluminum Mill Products Corporation in Lancaster.
Bill took great pride in caring for and working on his farm.
Left to cherish his memory are his wife of 64 years; four children, Christian (Barbara) Gilner of Genesee, Benjamin (Roxanne) Gilner of Lancaster, Joan (Ben) Walton of Wellsville, N.Y., and Linda (Grant) Kemp of Wellsville, N.Y.; eight grandchildren; ten great-grandchildren; a sister, Phyllis (Emmett) Lyons of Shinglehouse; and several nieces and nephews.
In addition to his parents, Bill was predeceased by a daughter, Patricia Gilner, who passed away in 1976; and a sister, Dorothy Hackman.
In keeping with Bill’s wishes, there will be no public visitation. Funeral services will be held privately. He will be laid to rest with his daughter in Laurel Hill Memorial Gardens in Columbia, Pa.

Bill’s wife, Maureen, entrusted his care to Kevin J. Dusenbury, funeral director/owner of the Virgil L. Howard Funeral Home, Shinglehouse.
